Thousands of people joined in the festivities to watch as the annual Christmas lights switch-on in the Leicester city centre which took place on Thursday night, November 22.
The X Factor winner Sam Bailey and many more treated the crowds to music and entertainment, before the lights were switched on, from a stage in Humberstone Gate, near the middle of the town centre.
Alongside the live entertainment, the new Christmas Food village also provided some festive dining options outside the Highcross shopping centre.
There was also a Ferris Wheel in the Jubilee Square, which stands at 110-feet tall, overlooking the city centre.
As well as the endless decorations and light fixtures, this year’s Christmas tree is now illuminated next to Leicester’s Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower.
There was also some very convincing artificial snow that was descending over shoppers and onlookers, to add to the festive spirit in the city centre.
