A massive £8,584.97 has been raised by Enderby Co-op members through using their membership cards for Enderby Mission Church and Enderby Scouts.
As a member, when you buy selected Co-op branded food products and services, 1% of the money you spend goes to local causes in your community. You can also choose which cause your own 1% goes to.
The store had a day to celebrate and give the charities their well-deserved money, on Saturday (November 24).
Andrea Greenwood-Andrews, Membership Pioneer at Enderby Co-op, said: “The celebration day was a great opportunity for the Coop to be able to give a little back to its members, who have done a great job in both supporting and raising so much money for our local causes.
“The Co-op provided free bottles of bubbles for young children, cakes, and a free prize draw for our members to win a hamper full of Coop goodies.
“There was also be the opportunity to meet our local causes to learn more about them and how important the 1% donations from our members have been.”

The charities were very grateful for the money that has been raised by members of Enderby Co-op and explained that the money will go towards helping the charities and organisations carry on doing what they do best.
A spokesperson from Enderby Scouts, said: “We will be using the money raised by the Co-op to update some tents that had passed their use by date and buy some new ones where we thought we had a gap in our equipment.
“We have been making do for the best part of 5 years with what we had been given when we started the scout group. This gives us a chance to replace most of our older kit and buy some new equipment that we have not been able to afford before.”

Jonathan Briars, member of Enderby Mission Church, said: “We couldn’t believe how much money Enderby Co-op had raised. We signed up to be one of the local causes because any sort of extra help would be great.
“The money will do so much to help our kids’ after school clubs, the elderly and we’re hoping to host a Christmas party for the elderly so some of it will go towards that.
“Christmas is coming up too, so we will help those who are less fortunate and those who don’t have anyone to spend Christmas with.”
