The newly opened Leicester Blood Donor Centre encourages people to donate blood and save lives this week as a part of its first blood donation rally.

The Leicester Blood Donor Centre opened its doors on October 24 in a new location in the city centre and welcomed everyone eligible for blood donations to its first blood donation rally that ends on Friday, November 9.

The newly opened centre in Guildhall Lane, Leicester, is a bright and welcoming place to visit in , and ideally located for students, city centre workers and shoppers.

Karen Ellis, 39, Donor Centre Manager, said: “We are constantly looking for new donors to replace people who can no longer donate.

“Blood is something that’s always needed and you never know when you might need it yourself.

“It is only available due to the good will of our donors.”

The centre has got a total of nine donation chairs, six for whole blood donations and three for component donations, where red blood cells or platelets are collected.

Mrs Ellis said: “Blood donation saves lives.

“Each donation is a precious and generous gift which can save or improve the lives of up to three seriously ill adults or six sick children.”

The centre is opened Monday to Friday and you can book an appointment online at https://www.blood.co.uk/the-donation-process/about-our-donation-venues/leicester/.
