MLK biopic comes to The Curve

By Ollie Heppenstall

An award-winning stage production of a biopic about world-famous civil rights leader Martin Luther King is to open at The Curve in November.

The Mountaintop, written by Katori Hall and directed by Roy A. Weise, is named for the famous “I’ve been to the mountaintop” speech delivered by King in April 1968 and centres around the night before his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee.

The original production won the 2010 Olivier award for best new play.

Starring Gbolahan Obisesan as Martin Luther King and Rochelle Rose as Camae, The Mountaintop opens on Tuesday November 13 and closes on Saturday November 17. Tickets can be bought on www.curveonline.co.uk/whats-on/shows/the-mountaintop/
