Fatal collision on A47 leaves man in serious condition

A man died yesterday afternoon (Monday November 21) after a serious collision with another vehicle on the A47 in Keythorpe, Leicestershire.

The collision which took place at 3pm involved a yellow Mercedes Sprinter van and a white Ford Transit.

The man driving the Mercedes suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene whilst the driver of the Ford was taken to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire where he remains in a serious condition.

Names of both parties have not yet been released by police.

Police closed the A47 for much of last night whilst enquires and an investigation took place but managed to re-open the road earlier this morning.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to police, or saw the cars involved beforehand to come forward.
