A second year De Montfort University student has been offered three internships at leading lingerie companies, after impressing the businesses with her hard work.
Contour fashion student, Georgia Phillips, from Gloucester, will spend time working alongside leading underwear brands Mimi Holiday, Bordelle and Fleur of England.
The work experience will aim to give the student a chance to work on her practical and marketing skills, which will help her in her future university projects.
Miss Phillips, 21, who has always wanted to work in the fashion industry, said: “I am so excited and grateful for the opportunities as they will really help shape my future and I know I’ll have a fantastic time.”
Bordelle will encourage her to use her sewing knowledge to help with small items such as briefs, whereas Mimi Holiday will help to build her PR and marketing experience.
It is unclear which role she will be given at Fleur of England.
The internships are all unpaid, however she will receive a small amount of money for travel.
Miss Phillips will spend the three week Easter break at the internship based in Bristol, Fleur of England and then will spend a month at both Bordelle and Mimi Holiday’s London offices during her summer holidays.
She added: “I’m expecting to learn a lot from these experiences and develop my skills and knowledge of how the industry is run from different angles.”
De Montfort university is one of the only two institutions in the UK that offer a Contour fashion degree and the student believes it is ‘the teaching of the cutting edge Contour Fashion course’ at DMU, which helped her to secure the internships.
