A new delicatessen in Leicester has been enjoying a brilliant start after opening earlier this month.
Deli In The Square, based in St Martin’s Square, opened on Saturday, October 4 and stocks a range of deli products from all over Europe.
28-year-old Sam Tuck, who owns and runs the deli, said: “We did literally zero promotion or marketing before we opened and on our first Saturday we made 170 sales.
“We’ve been really well received.”
Sam’s family previously owned a deli for eight years between 2000 and 2008 and he decided to open a new one after leaving his previous job earlier this year.
He said: “I spent six years working in a corporate environment and one day I got home from work and decided I didn’t want to do it any more.
“Leicester didn’t have a proper deli so I thought why not open one?
“We didn’t want to be just another cafe, we have a little bit of seating but our main focus is quality deli produce.”
The store will be stocking Christmas produce as of next week working mainly with three importers, one from France and two from Italy.
Throughout the year the shop offers a range of produce including chocolates, wine and baked goods.
Deli In The Square is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
