Leicester bar Big Difference to host nine-hour Gigs for Gaza

By Filip Nowicki

A nine-hour event featuring seven musical acts and various exhibitions is being held in Leicester at the weekend to support the Thousand Madleens to Gaza maritime flotilla campaign.

The Big Difference in High Street will be housing the Gigs 4 Gaza charity event on Sunday(NOV16) starting at 2pm and lasting until 11pm.

The event will feature two stalls, six exhibitions and seven musical acts throughout the day, with tickets available online costing £6, including the booking fee.

The exhibition will display the photography, prints and digital works of six different artists and two stalls which will be selling various items.

Evie Cook, the manager of the exhibition side of the exhibition, said: “The two stalls will have different types of items, one will be selling prints and the other selling hand made jewellery.”

In addition, the stalls will sell badges, knitted items and cards; the proceeds from the stalls will be going towards the Thousand Madleens to Gaza charity.

The event was organised in support of the Thousand Madleens to Gaza charity, which sends specialised civilians such as sailors, healthcare workers and elected officials across the Mediterranean to take aid to Gaza.

The global campaign grew after the first wave of boats were detained in international waters by Israeli forces and the event aims to reverse the lack of attention most of the world has been paying toward these events.

It will include two acoustic acts, five bands and six exhibitions; the proceeds from the day and stalls will be donated to support the charity, with organisers hoping it will raise up to a thousand pounds for the charity.
