Leicester wrestling school FTGU aims to keep expanding

A Leicester-based wrestling school formed seven years ago is aiming to keep expanding its reach as one of Leicester’s biggest centres of teaching for the sport.

FTGU was formed in 2017 and has had success pushing its talent to bigger wrestling promotions such as WWE.

“We’ve made massive progress,” said Nick Lee-Shield, 35, who is a wrestler at the school and also helps with design elements such as merchandise.

FTGU already has shows across the county of Leicestershire but it has ambitions to go to bigger venues.

“We do really well with our crowds in Leicester” said Nick, who stated the Leicester arena was a place of interest to host a wrestling show

FTGU has a good reputation for bringing talent to big stages, such as Jack Sellstrom and owner Gareth Harris who has worked with legendary UK wrestler Robbie Brookeside

The next event for FTGU is at Braunstone West End Club on Saturday, May 19, as FTGU world champion Will Wylde defends his championship against Martin Kirby.
