Across the Pitch enters Demon FM podcast scene

By Jacob Williams

A new podcast about football launched by two first year journalism students at De Montfort University has been grabbing more and more listeners.

Augustine Obiozor and Arvind Kalsi first met when they started their journalism course in October and by November 6 had launched the first episode of their Across The Pitch podcast.

Augustine said: “I enjoy it because I enjoy talking about football and I feel like I can be myself.”

Arvind added: “I enjoy it because it’s a new experience for me.”

The duo have been broadcasting their show live on Demon FM on Thursdays, talking about recent hot topics such as the derby game Manchester United vs Manchester City.

They both feel that they have learnt from the podcast.

Augustine said: “ I’ve learnt about time management.”

Arvind added: “We had one session we wanted to talk about the Champions League but didn’t have time.”

When they first started the podcast, it was originally one hour but they have now changed it to two hours because they wanted more time to talk about more things.

Arvind and Augustine are very proud of the podcast.

“It can sometimes be a bit overwhelming,” said Arvind, “because it’s something I wanted to do for a while and it’s an opportunity that’s hard to come by.”

For them the podcast means a lot because they both said they can use it to escape from everyday stresses and both feel comfortable talking about a topic they love.”

Both of them have enjoyed doing this podcast so much that they urged others to just do it.

Augustine said: “I would recommend it because it’s good experience for us all and you learn a lot.”
