Several shop units in Leicester city centre remain vacant, raising concerns among residents and traders about the future of the high street.

Empty storefronts are increasingly visible in key shopping areas, following the closure of several businesses struggling with rising rent, energy bills and staffing costs.

Traders say reduced footfall has made it harder to survive, particularly for independent shops competing with online retailers.

Some fear the lack of variety is discouraging shoppers from visiting the city centre.

Leicester City Council said it is developing regeneration plans to attract new businesses, support existing traders and improve the city centre.
