The team running a pastry shop on DMU campus are on their way to selling one million cookies as they fast approach their tenth anniversary.
The Bom Bom Bhag has been open in the campus centre building for over two months, while the main branch has been open since 2016 in Loughborough, selling a variety of pastries, mainly cookies as well as coffee.
Dani Hay, 31-year-old manager of the DMU branch, said: “Our ultimate goal is to sell a million cookies, if you line a million cookies up from Loughborough it takes you to London, so each month we track where we’re at with that journey.”

So far, the company has sold 460,000 cookies towards its target which it hopes to achieve by 2032, if not earlier.
Bom Bom Bhag, short for ‘Big Hairy Audacious Goal’, has a set amount of principles regarding ambitious goals that push to stride forward with dedication and commitment to caring for customers, products and staff.
Dani and Molly, a fellow worker, said the country’s tough financial and economic hardships have not created challenges for them because Bom Bom is rather caring and the minimum wage goes up every year.
Dani added: “We’ve got five Bom Bom Patisserie locations, three in Loughborough, one in Rothley and here.
“We care about our customers, we care about our food and drinks, and we care about our staff.
“So before we recruit, before we open up a new store and before we put out a new product, the process that we go through is three-quarters are we caring about our customers when we do this, are we caring about our staff, is everyone going to be happy with this idea?”
Bom Bom Patisserie plans on hopefully expanding in the future while maintaining its core values and going forward with selling one million cookies.
