Leicester residents have been left heartbroken after the historic Leicester pub The Parcel Yard closed down after nearly 100 years.
The pub, which was closed down due to a major redevelopment of the train station, was home to commuters going to and from Leicester as well as football and rugby fans on a match day.
Former worker Tara Pinnick said: “It was really heartbreaking to see.
“If we could bring it back tomorrow, I would in a heartbeat and stay there as long as I could. It was a massive massive family.”

Another former worker, Josh Lee-Bradley, added: ”It was like a home from home, it was so welcoming
“What it brought to certain people you couldn’t buy with money, it meant so much to so many people, it was more than just a pub.”
Many people have voiced on social media their frustrations of the pub’s sudden closure, especially train users.
Josh added: “For a commuter, it was the heart of Leicester. It was there for everyone to use and it’s gone in the click of the fingers.
“It felt like a family being ripped apart.”
The pub was originally given a stay of execution by city councillors but was finally approved after fears it may delay the station project.
Josh said: “Before a deal was made about it going, it felt like it was already certain it was happening, there was no fighting it.”
The plans for demolition begin in the summer with the construction preparing to start soon after.
