Whatton House, near Loughborough, will host its event named ‘Easter in Wonderland’ where guests will follow trails and discover clues, ultimately leading to a ‘Mad Hatter Circus’.

The event will take place over two weekends in mid-April, including the Easter bank holiday weekend and follows highly successful Halloween and Christmas events.

Brina, a partner at Whatton House, said: “Our Whatton House of Horror event was greeted with critical acclaim and we won several awards.

“At Easter we’re planning to host something we don’t think has been done before, something quite unique.

“It will be really visual and engaging with lots of performers including aerialists and hoop artists and we’re really excited to put it on for everyone.”

Whatton House won the best scare attraction award in the UK in 2021 for its Halloween event which sold out with 10,000 people attending.

The Christmas event was similarly successful with the house receiving extremely positive reviews on platforms such as TripAdvisor.

Brina added: “It’s really nice that we are now starting to be recognised in the events market.

“I think the public have confidence in us and really trust in the quality of the events that we now provide.”

Like most businesses in the hospitality industry, Whatton House suffered as a result of Covid-19 but two successful events have put it back on track.

Whatton House was originally built in 1802 but it was almost entirely destroyed by fire in 1876.

The house was used as a maternity hospital during the Second World War and more than 2,000 babies were born there.
