Leicester City Council is spending more than £450,000 to improve parking in seven areas across five city wards.
Around 64 new spaces are set to be created for residents in the Aylestone, Beaumont Leys, Thurncoat, Western and North Evington wards.
The first two schemes – on Stornaway Road in Thurncoat and Farnham Street in North Evington – started on Monday [NOV22], with further work continuing into the new year.
Forbes Close in Glenfield, Scalpey Close and Thornholme Close in Beaumont Leys, two areas on Mossgate in New Parks and Gees Lock Close in Aylestone will also see parking spaces added or improved.
Money has been raised by the council’s housing department and income raised from parking charges, in an effort to address problems such as parking on pavements or on grassy verges.
The work is set to be complete by the end of January 2022.
