Leicester City Council holds Gender Pay meeting

By Mary De-Wind

Leicester city council are gathering together for a meeting tomorrow (March 19) to discuss it’s Pay Policy statement for the current financial year.

According to the Equality Act 2010, public sector employers are instructed to provide quality duty, to publish details of their gender pay each year.

The Council has made great steps in decreasing the gender pay gap between staff since the last report.

“It is encouraging that this latest statement continues to reflect our commitment to fair pay and we’re proud to be one of just a few employers to have achieved complete parity in the average pay of our male and female staff”, said City Mayor Peter Soulsby.

“This annual statement helps ensure that our pay policy at Leicester City Council are open and transparent and this is vital during a period of long-term and severe cuts that have put council budgets under increasing pressure.”

Todays meeting include approval of the Councils pay statement for 2020/21. The council will also be commenting on the Gender Pay Gap 2019 report.
