Hinckley Police have appealed for information after Watery Gate Lane was closed last week due to two large loads of commercial waste being dumped on the road and then set ablaze.
The Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to put out the fire and the local authority has been forced to cover the costs of the clean-up.
The road, located in Thurlaston on the boundaries of the Blaby and Hinckley district with Bosworth, is notorious for vehicles frequently getting stuck due to flooding.
However, Leicestershire County Council announced plans to install gates in January.
