Students donned rubber gloves to take part in a mass clean-up of Leicester city today as part of a major community project.
De Montfort University organised the mass volunteering event today (FRIMAR1), alongside Leicester City Council, during which students helped clean the streets, libraries and community centres.
The Mayor of Leicester Sir Peter Soulsby joined the event and supported the clean up by removing stickers from street furniture and picking up litter and rubbish.
Mr Soulsby said: “Over the last few years De Montfort University has more and more become engaged in the community of Leicester – and it has become more and more important for the city.
“I think this latest event is just one more example of how Leicester and De Montfort University are helping each other.”
The aim of this event is to engage more younger generation to contribute in the well-being of their community.
