The Curve starts its involvement with James McDermott’s brand new show ‘Rubber Rings’ commencing Monday (FEB18) and finishes with Rob Ward’s ‘Joan’ on Thursday, February 28.

The collaboration has returned for its second year and has excited many of the LGBTQ+ community.

The Curve said: “We will be offering an exciting programme of theatre performances, workshops and free events curated by De Montfort University students to celebrate LGBT History Month.”

Other events will include Matthew Robins’ Drip, Rob Ward’s Gypsy Queen and Joan, which will be performed by Lucy Jane Parkinson.

The first show is Rubber Rings which will be performed on Monday and starts at 7pm, tickets costing £8. The Curve described the show as a “coming of age comedy about learning to live without labels, love yourself and love your roots.”

There will also be a multitude of workshops and talks, as well as other events such as the Dancing in Heels Workshop with Jono Kitchens.

Poetry readings by Mark Peachey as well as many other events will take place on the DMU campus.

#DMUpride was praised in the past and helped DMU be awarded the first ever University of the Year for Social Inclusion by The Sunday Times Good University Guide.

Last week, #DMUpride saw many successful talks and events such as “The Queer History of the Eurovision Song Contest” and the “Rethinking Identity – Performing Portraits, a Practical Exploration Workshop.”

This time #DMUpride has also joined with DMUactive in order to support its new #TakeAStand campaign in an attempt to get more students and staff up on their feet.
