New tree strategy launched for National Tree Week

In National Tree Week, Leicester City Council has agreed to launch a new tree strategy that will guide Leicester’s ‘urban forest’ management.

The new strategy has been planned to be an effective management guidance for the next five years.

The strategy looks to improve Leicester City’s maintenance and replanting of trees as it will also encourage land owners to plant more trees themselves.

Leicester City Council already has a committed policy in place that it will plant more than one tree for every one that is removed or lost.

City Mayor Peter Soulsby was in attendance to launch the new tree strategy and to declare to start of National Tree Week.
