Former Leicester City academy player Elliot Percival has paid tribute to the club’s late chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
The 60-year-old Thai businessman tragically lost his life when a helicopter carrying him and four others crashed outside the King Power Stadium on October 27.
MEMORIES: Former Fox Elliot Percival fondly remembers Khun Vichai.Percival, who now plays for Leicestershire non-league outfit Barwell, has joined the growing number of players to pay tribute and share personal memories of Mr Srivaddhanaprabha.
The defender progressed through the academy system at Leicester City and completed a two-year scholarship at the club before joining Sheffield Wednesday at the age of 18.
“When I was there in the youth teams, every time you saw him he had a smile on his face,” Percival said.
“We would be treated to watch the first team games in the directors’ box when we all got our scholarships.
“There was always a positive atmosphere when he was around and despite having all the money in the world, he was a very genuine man who wanted to see everyone do well.”
Meanwhile, Leicester City have announced that the Foxes Foundation has been renamed the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation in honour of their late chairman.
A number of items are currently available for auction – including Jamie Vardy’s corporate hospitality box for this weekend’s game against Burnley – with all funds raised going to the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation.
