The colourful procession will set off from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara in East Park Road, between 11am and 12noon, and will follow a route through the city to Holy Bones, near St Nicholas Circle.

The procession, which is one of the most significant in the Sikh calendar, involves making journeys from Gurdwara to Gurdwara, while singing hymns and enjoying traditional food along the way.

Road closures along the route will be: St Peter’s Road, Sparkenhoe Street, East Park Road, Swain Street, St George’s Way, Charles Street, Northampton Street, Granby Street, Gallowtree Gate, East Gates, High Street, St Nicholas Place and finally to St Nicholas Circle, the procession is due to finish at nearby Holy Bones, at 3pm.

Nagar Kirtan celebrates the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first of the 11 Gurus of Sikhism and has been celebrated for more than 20 years in Leicester.
