VIDEO: De Montfort University students thrilled by their cheap week skiing in Andorra

By Beth Surridge

Over 70 DMU Students enjoyed an active week away in the Pyrenees mountains in the cheap student resort Pas de la Casa, in Andorra at the beginning of the well anticipated Easter holidays.

With it only costing €3.50 for a pint, students could not say no to the holiday despite deadlines fast approaching at the end of term.

The annual DMU Snow tour took place from the 23rd-31st March, and members of other societies and groups at DMU also had the opportunity to join the trip.

The Snow Sports Society’s social secretary James Smith (22) said: “It was a week of dancing on tables, shredding the mountain and all in all having a banging time.”

Despite the inevitable hangover’s from the cheap alcohol, everyone eventually pulled themselves up in the morning and headed to the chair lift and onto the mountain.

Ben Smith (21) a third-year Business and Management student managed to break 2 of his toes and crack his foot, but surprisingly, this was not done whilst skiing but rather on a night out in the tax-free town.

He said: “I really enjoyed myself over the week, taking my skiing ability to new limits and testing myself.

“Hurting my foot was a let-down, but I still had a brilliant time at Après and night out the next day thanks to everyone involved.”

Ben was not the only one to get injured however, Isaac Palmiere managed to fracture his spine on the last day on the slopes as he was impressing us all going over large jumps at the snow park.

The week-long trip sadly came to an end, and despite a 22-hour bus journey, everyone was still in good spirits back to Leicester and have already started to think about where to go next year.

Another DMU Snow trip will take place again next year, who knows where we will end up? Follow DMUSnow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to find out more.
