Leicester County Council road gritting underway following Monday snow

By Matthew Chandler

Leicestershire County Council have been gritting roads across the county following yesterday’s snowfall.

Gritting started last night after the county was hit with periods of heavy snow throughout the day, with A roads such as Soar Valley Way, Coventry Road and Hinckley Road the main priority.

The council has a pre-winter stock of 14,500 tonnes of salt found at five different depots across the county, and their 17 gritters clear 45% of Leicestershire roads.
