Sarah Burdett, 21, Women’s Representative at DMU, said: “The main aim of my job is to ensure women at De Montfort University have their views represented and can voice any concerns or issues.

“My job is to listen and make positive changes to improve their student experience.”

Each role has an area of focus and the team works together to make DMU a better place for all students.

The next lot of representatives need to be passionate, motivated and determined to get the job done.

The representatives should also be a good listener as they need to listen to students to discover the positive changes that they want to make.

Miss Burdett continued: “I would hope the next Women’s Representative would want to build on my work and expand my campaign of free sanitary products in the students’ union to a campaign where there are free sanitary products in every building on campus.”

The part-time representative positions available are: Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Representative; Disabled Students’ Representative; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer Plus (LGBTQ+) Representative; Mature Students’ Representative; International Students’ Representative; and Women’s Representative.

Five full-time positions available are: President; Deputy President Education; Vice President Media and Communications; Vice President Student Activities; and Vice President Welfare and Community.
