Small businesses on Belvoir Street in Leicester have been left unsettled by the news that four more months of roadworks are set to start.

The work is said to be the ‘final push’ of the £1.3 million revamp of the road that began last year.

City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby told the Leicester Mercury: “Along with the exciting new development of the New Walk Centre site, these works will help ensure the area continues to attract shoppers and visitors in years to come.”

Belvoir Street and Welford place will be shut from early May, meaning that bus routes will need to be diverted and bus stops will be temporarily moved.

Keep up to date with road closures on the Leicester City Council website.
