Are you Convinced?

By Chloe Hewitt

A student-run project is hosting events this week raising questions about Christianity.

Convinced? is a team made up of Christian Unions and churches from across Leicester who frequently put on events to share the message of their faith in a fun and entertaining way.

From today (Monday, February 20) until Friday, the group will be running nightly events which anyone is welcome to go along to.

Samantha Tidbury, a member of the group, said: “Growing up Christian I am more than used to people questioning my faith so this is a great opportunity to show people what it is really about.

“Rather than forcing my beliefs on other people, it would be more effective to do so in a way that people would enjoy rather than make them feel they are being preached at.

“Convinced? has been a great way to meet fellow Christians in a place other than church.”

The event kicks off on Monday night with live music night at the Holy Trinity Church where there will be milkshakes and baked goods up for grabs as well as a small talk on the topic of ‘If God, why suffering?’

On Tuesday night, the question that will be discussed will be ‘What is it to be happy?’, with an evening of film, popcorn as well as a discussion on what it means to be happy – also held at the Holy Trinity Church.

A free two course meal is on offer on Wednesday night, as well as a chance to talk about whether faith is a just a psychological crutch, also taking place at the Holy Trinity Church.

The final event at the Holy Trinity Church takes place on Thursday night with a quiz.

More live music will be the theme of Friday as they head to the Parcel Yard pub, near the train station, for a chance to have a few drinks and discuss who God is.
