Humberstone Gate collision – man arrested

A man has been arrested after a collision in Leicester city centre yesterday evening (Tuesday 1 November).

Police were called to Humberstone Gate just before 5pm following a report of a vehicle colliding with pedestrians.

Three men and a woman were injured during the incident. The men have since been discharged from hospital and the woman remains in the Leicester Royal Infirmary undergoing treatment.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

The investigation is in the early stages and officers are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.

The car failed to stop at the scene and a vehicle was found abandoned nearby. The city-bound side of Humberstone Gate was initially closed but has since been reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident 531 of 1 November.
