Update: Man’s body found

Two men remained in custody yesterday evening where they continued to be questioned by detectives in connection with the death of Promise Ndlovu.

The men, aged 34 and 55, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday (October 29) after the body of the 40-year-old was found by a member of the public in Charter Street, Leicester, at about 8.25am that morning.

A 44-year-old man, who was also arrested in connection with the death, was later released with no further action.

The body was found near to the Kapital Building in a car park, which does not belong to the building, outside a nearby warehouse and detectives were actively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, which included searching part of a property in Charter Street.

A woman who lives nearby in Navigation Street said she heard sirens and saw the body being covered with a cloth in the middle of the factory car park.

She added: “It is extremely sad someone had their last hours in the middle of a dismal car park.”

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about the events leading up to Mr Ndlovu’s death, or who was in the area of Charter Street on Friday night or the early hours of Saturday morning.

The results of a post-mortem examination were inconclusive and, although further tests were being conducted, detectives were treating the death as murder.

According to figures on crime-statistics.co.uk, there were 1,112 crimes reported in August 2016 within a 1-mile radius of Charter Street.

Anyone with any information about the death should call 101, quoting incident number 201 of 29 October.
