UPDATE: Witness appeal for Castle Donington collision

UPDATE: The Astra driver involved in this injury died in the hospital on Tuesday morning, October 25.

The driver of the Astra, Ross Spencer, 17, of Castle Donington, sustained serious injuries and subsequently died in hospital. The driver and passenger in the Jeep were not injured.

Police are asking that witnesses of a collision to Castle Donington to step forward if they have any information.

The collision happened at around 5.55pm on Saturday, October 22, on Hill Top in Castle Donington.

Police are calling this collision “serious”, however only one passenger sustained injuries.

The collision, which took place about 250m north of the Hill Top junction within the A453, involved a red Vauxhall Astra and black Jeep Commander.

The Astra was travelling south along Hill Top towards the A453, whilst the black Jeep Commander was travelling in the opposite direction.

The Astra driver is currently still in Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham being treated for serious injuries.

Police are asking witnesses of the collision, and those who saw either vehicle beforehand, to contact Detective Constable Pete Davies on 101, quoting incident 617 of 22 October.
