A football dream came true for one lifelong Leicester fan when she got to meet the Premiership trophy and one of the Leicester City players who had helped secure the title, all in the same week.
Grace Morgan, 22, a Journalism student at De Montfort University, from Glenfield in Leicester, still can’t believe her beloved Foxes have actually won the league.
She said: “When I saw the trophy with Leicester ribbons on it, it was just crazy, I never expected to see that.
“I’m really not sure it’s actually sunk in yet.”
Grace, pictured right, wearing her team’s colours, who plays centre-half in DMU women’s football team and will captain the side next year, answered the call from DMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dominic Shellard, for Foxes fans to come forward, without knowing why.
She was delighted when Prof Shellard led a group of Leicester-supporting students on a special trip to see the coveted trophy.
She added: “Dominic asked students who were Leicester fans to tweet him. We didn’t know why but me and my friend tweeted him anyway.
“He organised a trip to the King Power and we got to see the Premiership trophy – but we weren’t allowed to touch it.”
Grace’s Leicester dream just kept getting better when star left-back Christian Fuchs visited the university.
She said: “The women’s football team were asked to give Christian a tour of the campus and I got to ask him a question at the question and answer event which followed.”
For Grace, 20 years of diehard loyalty and support for Leicester City was more than rewarded in just a few days.
