Leicester’s foreign exchange students hope Britain will not vote for the EU Brexit next month.

Foreign nationals studying in the city are concerned how the vote will affect their stay in the country.

The referendum on 23 June will decide whether Britain remains in the European Union or leave, a move that could disrupt current foreign student visas and immigration policies.

Cody Kosthar, 23, from America, said: “I’m pro-stay because it’s almost a leap backwards in thinking. It’s 2016, we’re all inter-connected, but they want to go back and ‘Make England Great Again,’ when that’s not really ho things work anymore.”

Jennifer Cools, 24, studying in Leicester from France, said: “I personally think [Britain] should stay in the EU and it’s going to take a really long time to get out of it, if that’s what they want to do.”

Paola Monpoix said: “I don’t know what will happen but I really hope the UK will remain in the European Union.”
