DMU students declare their gratitude after finishing course placement

By Jordan Gillen

DMU students have spoken about the time they spent on placement this year and just how much it has benefitted them.

Placements have long been a popular choice for students to get some first hand experience before they graduate and embark onto a full-time career of their own.

De Montfort University students Paul Winn, Samantha Newell and Eve Staniland declare their love for the time they’ve spent in the industry.

Paul Winn, an Advertising and Marketing student, completed three months of placement at Doc Martens in London.

He said: “When I applied for it, I didn’t really think i’d get it but it was amazing. I enjoyed every second of it.”

Paul’s coursemate, Eve, has also undertaken a placement this year, she has been working at the Phoenix cinema in Leicester since October.

She said: “It was really easy to apply for through the Frontrunners scheme and it was a really beneficial opportunity for me.”

Samantha, an Arts and Festival Management student, got the chance to work on many big events including Light The Night Festival and an Indian Summer, all of which had helped her CV massively.

The Frontrunners scheme offers students the chance gain new skills, experience and to increase their graduate employability.
