Practice makes perfect

A serious assault on a woman and a hedgehog survey were two of the stories tackled by Journalism students today as part of their preparation for their Reporting exam later this term.

Post Graduate students had to write a tweet, web headline and a series of stories, as well as answer  questions on ethics and news gathering practice as part of the mock exam.

All five of those taking the paper are on the MA course at DMU and will be sitting national exams for the NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists)  which is the body which oversees professional standards in the industry.

Module tutor John Dilley said: “Sitting the mock exam is good preparation for the real thing, especially as practice for writing against the clock.”

The DMU MA in Journalism is accredited by the NCTJ as is the Undergraduate BA programme.
