James Bond assistant director Terry Bamber will today speak at the launch of the Leicester Media School, one of the UK’s leading centres for creative industries such as journalism and animation.

The all-day event is designed to unite over 1,600 students and 75 academics into one new school at De Montfort University. Bamber, assistant director on BBC One crime drama Luther and the last six installments of the James Bond movie franchise, will deliver a guest lecture as part of the official launch event in the Bede Island Building at 1.30pm.

The packed programme will also spotlight the world-leading expertise and industry-standard facilities at the Leicester Media School while offering students a platform to demonstrate their skills to new audiences. Interactive audio-visual installations have been created especially for the prestigious event while students from the world-leading Animation Design Studios will present a new Richard III cartoon.

Guests will also be given the opportunity to see students recording content in DMU’s multi-million-pound Creative Technology Studios while working on a host of news stories throughout the day.
